Every summer the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore presents a full season of free activities that run the gamut from exciting concerts to riveting lectures for the entire family. In 2012 Dr. Greg Skomal, noted shark researcher, presented "Jaws Comes Home." The 2013 summer season featured IFAW's Brian Sharp who presented "From Right Whales to Gray Seals: Stranding Response on Cape Cod." For 2014 renowned naturalist Peter Trull will be speaking about "The Symbiotic Relationship in Humpback Whales and Marine Birds." Music events each summer include concerts by groups such as "Toast and Jam," "Billy and Beth," The Rum Soaked Crooks" and the "Outer Cape Chorale Chamber Singers." Additionally, the Friends sponsor performers such as Zoe Lewis, Peter Donnelly and Chandler Travis at the Herring Cove Concerts in Provincetown.


Calendar

Friends sponsors FREE concerts and events each year for Cape Cod residents and visitors to the Seashore. It also sponsors Cape Cod National Seashore's "Tuesday Evenings at Salt Pond" programs as well as events at Province Lands Visitor Center and Herring Cove Beach.

Tuesday evening programs at the Salt Pond Visitor Center auditorium in Eastham begin at 7:00 pm, are always FREE, and last about an hour. Seating is limited, so please arrive early. Doors open at 6:30 pm. The Salt Pond Visitor Center auditorium is wheel chair accessible.

Southern New England artist Elizabeth James-Perry, who is of Aquinnah Wampanoag heritage, presents an illustrated talk on Native American adornment and material culture including traditional weaving and the coastal artistic tradition of wampum.

The Symbiotic Relationship in Humpback Whales and Marine Birds

Renowned naturalist Peter Trull has been involved in marine research since 1976. As a researcher and education director at the Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown in the 1990s he developed and taught classes related to whales and marine birds, the topic of this fascinating talk.

The lecture follows the Annual Meeting of Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore at 6:30 PM.

Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore is hosting an evening to benefit Cape Cod National Seashore on July 23rd 7-9 pm at Payomet Performing Arts Center in Truro. The evening will feature stand-up comic, social and political humorist Jimmy Tingle performing LIVE - "Making Comic Sense".

Friends is thrilled to have Mr. Tingle as our guest. You will not want to miss his unique brand of topical yet timeless comedy. Clean, funny, intelligent humor for all audiences.

Delicious food and drink, a live auction, music and comfortable seating under a tent ensure a fun evening no matter what the weather. Parking is free and unlimited.

All proceeds will go to fund the purchase of mammal monitoring cameras, as well as Climate Friendly Park initiatives such as Beach Recycling programs and a movie on sustainable practices for use in Visitors Centers and on the website.
