Our fundraising goal is $180,000. This will allow us to purchase all items documented to have been present in the station in 1900. From the cook stove and heating stoves, and books and beds, to a boat wagon and Lyle gun, and rain slickers and dinner plates-the items we need span all price ranges. Our campaign will be successful when people who are passionate about maritime history and historical interpretation will join with us to bring this significant building to life.

Our campaign began with a special event at Old Harbor on June 28, 2010. National Seashore rangers, portraying the station keeper and surf men from 1902 presented their unique Beach Apparatus Drill. This is a dramatic portrayal of a rescue drill that was performed by the men of the US Lifesaving Service every Thursday at the turn of the 20th century. Cape Cod National Seashore is the only place in the US presenting the full drill to 1902 standards, including a live firing of the Lyle Gun. Similarly, when Old Harbor's furnishing project is complete, it will be the only historical life-saving station in the US completely furnished to bring to life this important aspect of maritime history that occurred along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Since the launch of the campaign in February, 2010, we have generated more than $109,000 in pledges. This includes $22,000 in National Park Service funding to furnish the crew's quarters. Our acquisitions to date include:
