Environmental Death Stalks one of Mexico’s Most Beautiful Lakes: Can Lake Pátzcuaro be saved?

Part of a cultural exchange sponsored by the U.S. National Park Service, Alejandra Garcia, Valeria Aguilar, Ireri Servin and Yolanda Peñaloza are four university students visiting Cape Cod this summer to draw ideas from a local environmental success story. They are convinced it sheds light on ways to save the huge, beloved and deeply polluted lake that defines and draws its name from their hometown, Pátzcuaro, in the Mexican state of Michoacán.  This program will offer their insights   Known as the "Patz-4," the young women are all bilingual. Indoor program.


Weekly, evening programs at Salt Pond Visitor Center are sponsored by Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore. For outdoor programs held at the Salt Pond Amphitheater, bench and lawn seating are available, picnicking is welcome, and bug spray is suggested. Indoor programs are in the air-cooled auditorium, and doors open at 6:30 pm. Some events are geared toward families. In the event of rain, outdoor programs will be moved indoors unless rain dates are listed.
