Addison Art Gallery, Orleans, will hold a special reception for the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore from 5:00 to 7:00 on Saturday, June 1. Longtime supporter of environmental efforts, owner Helen Addison is sponsoring this event in lieu of her birthday gathering. “Living on Cape Cod, I am reminded daily of the blessings afforded by the Seashore. It is an honor to introduce people to the work done by the Friends.”
Guests will be treated to the song stylings of popular musician Sarah Burrill, libations, and nibbles catered by Mary’s Fine Provisions. The evening will be an opportunity of the public to meet FCCNS Board members as well as some of the region’s most sought-after artists. Just prior to the event, at 4:00, Jonathan McPhillips will demonstrate oil painting as he creates a scene found in the National Seashore.
Since 1978, FCCNS, a not-for-profit charitable organization which operates under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service by raising funds for specific projects, has supported the National Seashore. Present goals include purchasing beach wheel chairs, creating a Wampanoag map and audio tour, projects to assist the visually-impaired, and Old Harbor Life Saving repairs, among others.
In recent years, the Addison Art Gallery has supported numerous non-profit organizations and causes and served as the Cape Cod National Seashore’s 50th Anniversary art partner, and the National Park Services’ 100th Anniversary.
The Addison Gallery is located at 43 South Orleans Road (Route 28), Orleans. To save onsite parking for those needing assistance, please park off property beyond the gallery's abutters. For more information on this event, please email helen@addisonart.com.
