Science in the Seashore Symposium

  • Salt Pond Visitor Center 50 Nauset Road Eastham (map)

Hosted by the Atlantic Research Learning Center at Cape Cod National Seashore, the Symposium brings researchers and the public together. This popular event provides researchers an opportunity to present their work directly to the public while providing the public an opportunity to hear about the latest scientific research at Cape Cod National Seashore directly from the people conducting it.

Topics this year include: Seasonal Distribution and Relative Abundance of Fishes and Invertebrates in Nauset Harbor; Consequences of Historic Wetland Impoundment and Implications of Seawater Flooding after a Century of Tidal Restriction; “What’s that Sherd?”: Identifying Diagnostic Historic Ceramics; Migration Ecology of Cape Cod's Juvenile Whimbrel; Tracking the Shifting Shoreline: How Coastal Parks are Changing Over Time; and “Fourth of July” Butterfly Surveys: Diversity and Abundance Trends for the Outer Cape and National Seashore with Mark Faherty, Science Coordinator at Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
