Friends of Cape Cod National Seashore Elects Two New Board Members

The Friends of Cape Cod National Seashore is proud to announce that its board of directors has elected two new members, Steven Manzi and Vince Tompkins, to fill existing vacancies. Both will serve initially in an interim capacity before being put forward for full three-year terms at the organization's Annual Meeting on July 15.

Manzi and Tompkins have been serving as volunteer members of the Friends' Development Committee since last fall. Earlier this month, both participated in a three-day board and staff workshop led by the National Park Foundation Lift Partnership Team.

"Both are deeply committed to the work of the Friends and to our shared task of supporting the key priorities of the Cape Cod National Seashore," said David Bernstein, President of the Friends of Cape Cod National Seashore. "With their decades of experience supporting and leading nonprofit institutions in the arts and education, and their love of the Seashore, Steve and Vince will be crucial additions to our board. We are delighted to welcome them."

Stephen Manzi

A part-time Eastham resident, Steven Manzi brings more than four decades of fundraising experience to the board. He retired in 2025 from his most recent full-time role as Chief Development Officer for Individual Giving at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where he worked for 14 years. Prior to the Met, Manzi served as a senior development officer for the New York Public Library, where he directed its multi-year $500 million "Creating The Library For The Future" capital campaign.

Earlier in his career, Manzi designed and implemented strategic planning and campaign fundraising efforts for a wide range of nonprofit institutions, including the United States Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association, The Innocence Project, Catholic Relief Services, Gay Men's Health Crisis, New York University's Steinhardt School, Casey Family Programs in Seattle, and the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil in Ecuador.

Vince Tompkins

Vince Tompkins, a Wellfleet resident, brings nearly four decades of experience as a teacher and administrator in higher education and K–12 schools. In 2023, he completed a thirteen-year tenure as Head of School at Saint Ann's School in Brooklyn, New York. During his time as head of school, he led two successful capital campaigns focused on improving teacher compensation, expanding access to need-based scholarships, and renovating and upgrading facilities for teaching and learning.

Prior to Saint Ann's, Tompkins served for five years as Deputy Provost of Brown University and as an associate dean in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. He has also served as a trustee of the New York State Association of Independent Schools and of the Guild of Independent Schools of New York City.
