Running with Purpose: Meet the FCCNS Falmouth Road Race Team

We run for

THE PEOPLE. THE SEASHORE. THE MEMORIES.

This year, Team FCCNS is proud to run the Falmouth Road Race in support of the National Seashore Lifeguard Program. Every mile helps protect the beaches, people, and experiences that make the Cape Cod National Seashore so special.

Our runners each have their own story, connection to the Cape, and reason for running. Meet the team helping preserve the Seashore for future generations.

This team runs in memory of Annie Haggerty, a beloved Seashore lifeguard who served for 19 summers and, in 1990, ran the full length of Cape Cod National Seashore’s sandy beaches. Annie passed away in 2013 from skin cancer, and her legacy continues to inspire generations of lifeguards, runners, and Seashore supporters.

WHY IT MATTERS

Each year, Cape Cod National Seashore lifeguards protect visitors across six beaches and respond to more than 100 emergencies. To keep both lifeguards and visitors safe, critical equipment must be regularly replaced, including:

  • Beach wheelchairs

  • Rescue paddleboards

  • Rescue surfboards

The total need for this equipment is approximately $40,000, and our Falmouth Road Race Charity Team has set an initial fundraising goal of $10,000 to help kickstart this campaign.

Your support will directly help provide the equipment needed to protect beachgoers, improve accessibility, and ensure lifeguards have the tools they need to respond when emergencies arise.

Please consider donating today to support our team’s fundraising efforts and invest in the safety of Cape Cod National Seashore’s visitors and lifeguards.
